In this task we had to produce a short clip including 6 different camera angles and a short conversation. Then we had to edit it using final cut express and put it on our blog.
I think from doing our preliminary task I have gained skills and knowledge with the equipment and the editing programmes such as final cut express which will be useful for our children's film opening task. We learnt about the 180 degree rule which we used during the conversation between Josie and Martin in the lift which is where you film on one side of an imaginary line down the middle of the two people having a conversation to stop the audience from being confused if you start filming from a different perspective. We also included a match on action shot where you cut during an action to another camera angle but showing the action from the same point in time that you left the previous shot. This was used in our filming when Josie is walking around the corner at the beginning and also when the lift door is opening. It was important whilst editing this to make sure we cut it at the right place to keep a continuous flow between the cuts.
I think doing this preliminary task has prepared me for the children's film opening by familiarising me with the cameras as well as the editing programmes.
